alomation v1.1 is now final. it has the proper widget look with rounded corners and a shadow, the auto mode was split into combinable ‘random’ and ‘latest’ modes and of course several bugs have been fixed. .

this the memorial site at otto lilienthal’s fliegeberg in berlin lichterfelde. he had the 15 meter hill heap up in 1894 to jump off into gliding flights, thus making it, arguably, the world’s first artificially and purposely built airport.

all of this site’s photos were taken with my 10 euro vga pencam, mostly in berlin. i love that thing, its light and small and takes pictures with a character. there’s not much risk in dropping or even losing it, so i take it along practically everywhere, never missing a photo opportunity. the camera is a dnt camstick xxl, which is similar to aiptek pencam vga+. it delivers quite sharp pictures under good conditions, but the colors are rarely accurate. especially the backlight situations, which i like a lot, tend to freak it out. while i often correct that towards the natural colors, at other times i rather keep the off colors. many who use these cheap cameras will agree that especially their quirks and imperfections, subtle or obvious, can result in a more interesting picture than an accurate copy would be.
