Now what was the title of that porn film?

Oh yes, it was either &quot;Wild Nerdboyz Go Crazy&quot; or &quot;You Wouldn&#039;t Fuck a Boy With Glasses On, Would You?&quot;

:)

Yes. Absolutely. I was listening to Jonathan Richman this morning and he is good for giving shout-outs to those who deserve them.

You asked a little while ago about the new Eggers book and I meant to tell you it was more enjoyable than I anticipated. Less painfully self-aware than the others; that is a good thing.

I do enjoy the book, but the question I&#039;ve been asking myself is whether this is all &quot;just&quot; &quot;some&quot; stories or whether there is something more to it. I&#039;m always looking for some allegorical meaning and so on... I just have the impression sometimes (with many contemporary american authors) that there is &quot;just&quot; the story, i.e. nothing much else going on. This feeling that something is lacking comes from reading Pynchon, I guess. I&#039;m looking for a certain uncomprehensbility of the text or a feeling of uneasiness that it creates. A good example for this would be, for example, the Kafka short story &quot;In the punishment colony&quot;.

		<description>Philosophy of the World - the Shaggs

Philosophy of the World - the Shaggs
Oh, the rich people want what the poor people&#039;s got
And the poor people want what the rich people&#039;s got
And the skinny people want what the fat people&#039;s got
And the fat people want what the skinny people&#039;s got

You can never please anybody in this world

The short people want what the tall people&#039;s got
And the tall people want what the short people&#039;s got
The little kids want what the big kid&#039;s got
And the big kids want what the little kid&#039;s got

You can never please anybody in this world

Oh, the girls with short hair want long hair
And the girls with long hair want short hair
Oh, the boys with cars want motorcycles
And the boys with motorcycles want cars

You can never please anybody in this world

It doesn&#039;t matter what you do
It doesn&#039;t matter what you say
There will always be
One who wants things the opposite way

It doesn&#039;t matter where you go
It doesn&#039;t matter who you see
There will always be
Someone who disagrees

We do our best
We try to please
But we&#039;re like the rest
Whenever at ease

Oh, the rich people want what the poor people&#039;s got
And the poor people want what the rich people&#039;s got
And the skinny people want what the fat people&#039;s got
And the fat people want what the skinny people&#039;s got

You can never please anybody in this world

But it&#039;s no use, really. I sat off to the side of the room and watched a girl in the front row browse eBay on her laptop.

		<description>&quot;there&#039;s no such thing as &#039;culture&#039;&quot;

&quot;there&#039;s no such thing as &#039;culture&#039;&quot;
even if it IS only good for cocktail parties, it is INCUMBENT on your prof to explain the difference, if he can. Although distinguishing between early and late Foucault seems fraught with complicated historiographic research programs - and the basis for a PhD program in Philosophy perhaps, it is an important intellectual exercise. Though I believe the difference lies in why Foucault cruised leather bars in San Francisco in the seventies looking for dick. it all hinges on the ability of a room full of hipster girls to understand why such moments are riddled with post structural moments, as well as with contradictions latent in other less heterotopic, structural ones.
